Prorate

Prorate is the process of calculating registration fees and taxes for multiple jurisdictions. To be considered for prorate registration, vehicles must travel inter-provincially and/or inter-nationally in Alberta and at least one other province or state.

Rather than obtaining and paying for plates and registration in each jurisdiction, Prorate offers the advantage of proportionate licensing in Alberta. The fees are calculated by the percentage of total distance travelled within each jurisdiction.

Our knowledgeable staff are trained to calculate and file the necessary paperwork to Alberta Transportation Prorate Services for processing. When processing is completed, Prorate Services provides us with a Fee Notice, which serves as a break down of the respective fees.

Once we have received the Fee Notice, our Registry Department can process your Registration and issue the necessary plates, validation tabs, prorate registration and cab cards. The cab card indicates the provinces and/or states in which travel has been approved and fees have been paid.

Our staff can help you set up your fleet and maintain it whether you want to add or delete vehicles, add jurisdictions, create a new weight group or process a complete cancellation.
